MELISSA PEDERSEN

Inspired by her garden and all things green and growing, Canadian jewellery artist Melissa Pedersen creates with solid silver, gold, gemstones, and pearls. Her one-of-a-kind designs reflect the beauty found in nature – from seeds and sprouts to budding branches and little blossoms. When she isn’t busy creating in her home studio find her hunting for wildflowers with her husband and three adventurous sons.

Melissa received a BFA (with distinction) in Jewellery + Metals in 2009, from the Alberta College of Art and Design. Find her jewellery in select galleries and shops, in local art markets and internationally through her website.

"I’ve always been drawn to the changing of seasons, especially from winter to spring. The transformation from death to life is what captivates me. I love to design with seeds, budding branches, new leaves, and tiny flowers. To me they are little symbolic details that represent the optimism, hope, perseverance and fresh start that arrives with the spring season each year.
I love how the process of creating in precious metals reflects this beautiful transformation. Using traditional metalsmithing techniques alongside modern technology, I create each ring, pendant or set of earrings by hand in my Calgary AB, Canada studio. The process is slow and intentional, I pour my heart into every piece I create."
