CHERRY DEACON

Cherry Deacon’s creative endeavors have come together to form her unique vision and
aesthetic. Working as assistant director at Canadian Art Galleries, having her own fine
craft gallery in Calgary and later her job as the manager of the Glenbow Museum Shop
greatly contributed to Cherry’s art knowledge and creativity.

Growing up in the southern part of the U.S. Cherry attended the University of Arkansas
where she studied art. After moving to Calgary in 1987 Cherry enrolled in the Fine Arts
program at the University of Calgary where she received her B.F.A. in painting and
drawing. The artist continued her studies at the Alberta College of Art and Design taking
courses in metalsmithing. It was then that designing and making jewelry became
Cherry’s passion. Selected pieces of Cherry’s jewelry were chosen to be in the Milan
Jewelry Week Exhibition 2022 in Italy. Cherry works fulltime in her Calgary studio
